UCSF Link
What is UCSF Link?
UCSF has embarked on a multi-year initiative that will dramatically improve our operations in the areas of research administration, financial management, and information technology infrastructure. UCSF Link is co-sponsored by the Vice Chancellor of Administration & Finance, Steve Barclay, and the Executive Vice Chancellor, Gene Washington, and endorsed by the Chancellor's Cabinet. This UCSF-wide initiative will involve academic departments, laboratories, and central administration. While this is a campus-wide initiative, its primary focus is to better support academic units by providing them with streamlined processes and new information systems with increased functionality and data capabilities.

How was the UCSF Link initiative developed?
Link was developed within the Chancellor's Information Technology Governance structure through an extensive UCSF-wide planning process conducted in two phases and led by the Administrative Systems Advisory Committee (ASAC). The Program Management Office (PMO) supports the ASAC planning activities and leads the implementation of the funded projects. Both Phases of the Link initiative were funded following the recommendation of the Executive Budget Committee.
The first phase of Link covered the period 2002-2006 and includes the following completed projects: Research Administration System (RAS) Phase I, Proposal Express, Distributed Journals, Online Payroll Time Reporting System (OPTRS), Asset Management, and Procure-to-Pay Strategic Plan. The current phase of Link is for the period 2006-2010 and includes the following projects: Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Effort Reporting System (ERS), Payroll Expense Transfers, Research Administration System (RAS) Phase II, Time and Attendance/Vacation Leave Accrual System, and an E-Workplace Portal.
